Bug Fever
I was watching a video tutorial for ComicVine, the latest and greatest from the Boompa guys. I’m not a comic fan but I can see how a structured data collection platform of all-things-comics can add real value to the comic comnunity and the comic industry as a whole. Neat stuff.
Dave used the Metacafe to serve his video — and after it’s done, you’re prompted to see more videos. I was prompted to check out “Steve Irwin’s Death - A real footage on how Steve Irwin died while …”.
I had to click.
After 20 seconds the “bugs” got to me. Not only do we have the title of the video — that’s a easy given. But then too, the news “bug” from Channel 9, I suppose a TV network down under. Then a bug from Grouper! And another from Metacafe. Bugs bugs everywhere! Eeek!
Check out all the bugs!
I’ll bet we see more of this kind of stuff as people-generated stuff gets branded by their distribution service of choice, only to be thrown back into the Internet pinball machine to be uploaded to another service that, too, will lay their brand bug on it.
2007 — the year of the bug!
